APPEAL TO COUNCILOR ALLAN NSHIMYE
Dear Sir,
In the past, members of Namutamba Community were mobilized to make a ‘bulungi bwansi road,’ I am of the opinion that you can kindly help to mobilize the community to help in efforts among which are:
1)Putting up some gardens at the Demonstration School for children feeding.
2)Mobilize some people from Namutamba to donate cows to the school out of which children can have milk,
3)To identify members from the community who can extend some land for growing of food to ensure good nutrition for the children.
In the meantime Sir, I am of the opinion that we need to identify ‘Namutamba families’ such that at a point in time when the plans are complete of what has to be executed, these families are looked at as major pillars in shouldering various financial obligations/executing specific obligations.
Your input with those you are to interact with is critical in seeing things move at Namutamba. For instance coming up with a Steering Committee with a good number of representation being people at Namutamba (say a half of it), which committee should critically look at the issues that need to be addressed as we celebrate the 75 years of Namutamba Demonstration School. There is need for information regarding the existence of the Demonstration Master plan and have it as public knowledge.
It is now very clear that the Internet can help a lot in bridging the communication gap. What remains critical is to have people who can be trusted with funds once donors are identified. Here dual control is important and ensuring value for money on implementation as well as spending on agreed-on priority areas. It is also critical to have the financial implication of much of what has to be fixed at the Demonstration School such that we incorporate solid figures of what is required in our appeals for assistance.
It should be possible for us to exchange ideas regarding the timetable of events, however, given that we have started a bit late, may be we could look to the climax of the event towards the end of the year. Meanwhile a computer at the Demonstration School is needed so that information collected can be fed for eventual use as well as enhancing other functions. Some body out there should kindly donate a computer for the purpose.
Once more, the above are simply my humble ideas subject to good debate and eventual action.
Thank you.
William Kituuka.
